Zach Yates began his tattoo journey in 2011 by apprenticing under Chris Schumann (RIP) at Knob Town Ink in Kansas City. He was officially licensed in April 2013 and continued to learn the trade at Knob Town Ink for 6 months where Chris emphasized the importance of color theory, composition, and how to create quality tattoos that last a lifetime.
Zach then continued to hone his craft at Ink Parlor in Kansas City for a year where he worked with Rachael Cross, Amy Bug, Logan Shackelford, and Tim Johnson. He is thankful for his time at Ink Parlor as it gave him the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, walk-in oriented environment.
In January 2015 Zach had the opportunity to help open Triple Black Tattoo in Blue Springs with Carl Mori and Vinnie Rheuark. Over the next 3 and a half years Zach developed his style of neotraditional, black and grey realism, and sacred geometry/stippled work. The crew at Triple Black became family and he is forever grateful for the love and support they have shown, as well as the knowledge he has gained from them all.
Kai C. W. Pierce , also known as Foknoire, is an illustrator and licensed tattoo artist since March 2025. She is inspired by history and folklore, with techniques drawn from intricate engravings and haptic mark-making. By merging black lines and symbolic imagery on skin and paper, she explores flora and fauna imbued with a sense of the fleeting and haunted.
Kai graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) in 2016 with a BFA in painting and art history.
